🔍 From Analogue to Advanced: Inside the Tunnel's Transformation

CK Communications recently completed a significant security and connectivity upgrade to Ramsgate Tunnel in partnership with PDS for Kent County Council. Spanning over 18 months, this major refurbishment has transformed the tunnel’s surveillance and control systems, boosting both safety and reliability.

Our team delivered a range of improvements, including:

• Replacement of 16 analogue CCTV cameras with IP HD CCTV cameras, enhancing clarity and remote monitoring

• An entirely new monitor wall display and fully upgraded operator workstations for improved situational awareness

• A new control room platform in the Tunnel Service Building, based on a fully IP-based system

• Deployment of two solar-powered off-grid CCTV units equipped with 5G connectivity, perfect for areas where power and broadband access are limited

These upgrades allow for more efficient tunnel operations, greater oversight, and a future ready surveillance setup all without relying on traditional infrastructure in harder-to-reach spots.
